The device wants a different format than the one negotiated.

The engine warns (AudioDeviceChanged, naming the request) and keeps the sink: it cannot renegotiate a device yet. When it does act it will recreate the sink rather than reconfigure in place, because in-place reconfiguration is where every player's device-change bugs live.
