Creates one renderer generation. UI callbacks may arrive off the main thread; the view safely marshals them before changing its overlay or layout.
onVideoGeometry carries the stored size and the turn of pictures that a decoder writes straight into the view's Surface, and the crop their container states, or null for none. Nothing draws such a picture, so the view hides the cropped edges itself (#497).
