A palette built from a handful of colours, in any order.

They are sorted dark to light and the darkest, middle and lightest become the ramp. The ground is a very dark version of the darkest and the marker a near white version of the lightest. The cycling span covers the hues actually present, so a palette built from a blue and orange cover cycles between blue and orange rather than round the whole circle.
